Everything I offer at The Sound Sanctuary Norfolk has been part of my own personal healing journey.

The therapies and practices that I share are rooted in lived experience, shaped not only through training, but through a deep understanding of what it truly takes to restore balance, reconnect with yourself,

and heal from within.

This is reflected in the way I work - with care, presence, sensitivity,

and a genuine appreciation for each person’s individual journey.

About Melissa - The Sound Sanctuary Norfolk

I have been a Holistic Health Therapist supporting women's health for over 20 years and a Sound Healing Practitioner for 4. I am deeply passionate about supporting people on their journey towards greater physical, emotional, and mental well-being, combining years of therapeutic experience with the restorative power of sound. Everything I offer has grown from both professional training and personal lived experience. Living with a long-term chronic health condition myself, I understand how important it is to care for not only the physical body, but also the emotional and mental overload that can so often accompany it. I know what it takes to try and maintain balance when the nervous system feels overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck in a constant state of stress or fear. This understanding is at the heart of the way I work. Modern science continues to show how deeply connected our thoughts, emotions, and physical health truly are. When we remain in prolonged states of stress, fear, or overwhelm, the body’s essential systems cannot function as they are designed to. Rest, digestion, healing, hormone balance, immune function, and emotional regulation can all become disrupted. Through holistic therapies inc reflexology, and my sound bath session, I gently guide the body back into a state of safety, balance, and flow. Sound healing in particular offers a powerful opportunity to slow down, become present, and quiet an overwhelmed mind. As the nervous system begins to settle, the body is often able to access its own natural ability to restore, regulate, and rebalance itself. I believe our bodies are remarkable, beautifully interconnected systems, constantly working towards healing and equilibrium when given the right support and conditions. My intention is to offer a safe, nurturing space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered - helping you reconnect into feeling yourself once more and your own natural state of wellbeing.

How I Work

As a professionally trained Integral Sound Healing Practitioner, having trained with The Sound Healing Academy, (the leading Sound Healing trainers in UK, USA, Australia and West Europe) I specialise in multi-instrument sound therapy, having a deep understanding of how sound affects the body and how to tailor my approach to meet a wide range of individual needs. With over 20 years of experience as a holistic health therapist, I believe my ability to assess people's needs enhances my sound work and helps create a safe, supportive environment. This allows individuals to fully experience the transformative beauty that therapeutic sound can offer. Combining my knowledge of sound alongside holistic treatments, I create personalised sessions tailored to you. Providing a supportive, gentle, and understanding environment, where you can feel safe to relax, realign , and reconnect with your inner peace. I  love creating soundbath experiences that help people feel more connected and in tune with their bodies. The stillness and vibrations felt allows the body to access deeply meditative states that really helps us to rebalance, regain clarity and coherence.  For an overwhelmed body and mind, sound is a powerful tool for rebalancing, and gives us the opportunity to recognise what we really need in our lives.

My Background

During my younger years, I explored various practices and treatments to help me bring the balance that I needed to live a fulfilling, healthy, and abundant life.  I sought to create a personal "toolkit" of self-care which would help support me through the many transitions of womanhood, alongside living with type 1 diabetes.   The sheer mental load of this condition was huge but I was determined to find a way to support both my mental, physical and emotional health, finding out early on how emotions really affected my condition and overall health.  This is now something that we are more aware of today, with over 80% of illness's that are being presented at Dr's now showing stress as the underlying cause.  I tried various holistic treatments as well as somatic movement using 5 rhythms  dance, meditation, and therapeutic sound.  Ultimately my journey of self-discovery led me to uncover what truly resonated with my unique needs.

Experiencing first hand the profound impact of these practices, I became deeply passionate about them and knew this was my life’s calling. My professional therapy journey began back in 2005 with training in Indian Head Massage, followed by further studies in Reflexology.  Over the years, I continued expanding my professional knowledge and skills, eventually incorporating Integral Sound Healing - an amazing offering in its own right but also something that beautifully enhances and deepens the benefits of all my holistic therapies. With over 20 years of experience as a therapist, I believe my ability to assess people's needs enhances my sound work and helps create a safe, supportive environment. This allows individuals to fully experience the transformative beauty that therapeutic sound can offer. In turn, my sound knowledge has deepened and enriched my therapy offerings, as sound works deeply on the entire body - helping to regulate and restore balance. The regular use of sound within my work and continuing professional development,  alongside the regular use of treatments for myself,  has helped me achieve the life that I love and live!
